My house is heated by gas..it’s expensive! What’s the temp that you guys have the thermostat on, during winter?
Mine is 72-74 (b/c it’s really cold in Michigan)…and bills are high.
I’ve sealed the windows as best as possible etc…
Any other suggestion on how to reduce heating bill? Should I shut all air-vents excepts for the rooms I’m in, so that the heat doesn’t go in rooms not used?
Houston, TX. Small family property, owner deceased, still trying to work out ownership. Seriously delinquent on taxes, both county and school. How likely is it to get a reduction on penalties to hang on to it long enough to get everything ironed out? Would an attorney be a realistic option, since it’s a very small estate?
For 38 years I’ve worked and paid my bills. My children graduated from college without student loans. Now my first grandchild is on the way and no one is talking about reducing the federal deficit.
Is it fair that our generation is leaving 10 trillion dollars in debt to our descendants.
, last nites questain /what makes a chimney draft,/ asker satisfied by answer/ left open ideal,/,i find interesting chimneys draft up when hot or warm outside down when cold out side this is considerable complaint by many loss of heat loss of cold air etc MY QUESTAIN is the ongoing draft useable as a source of power were all familiar with solar ,hydro ; and wind power solar stops with clouds , darkness, snow .wind stops that halts turbines, according to last nites premature stop to replies ,, drafts dont,, how feasable is putting small turbine fan in a chimney cap, or stack to capture that power wheather by natural draft ,common use of fire place wheather by gas or wood , powering the fan is not the idea just using what occurs naturaly or as by product of use i realize minimal production capacitys and not intended to put txu out of business .i would imagine used in roof turbine vents already but havent inquired, with the go green section as to roof vents that could be used on a chimney if you have one does it work
When I really want to up the ante on saving money… other than not buying naughty things like clothes! Does anyone know some great ideas for cutting down on the amount you spend, and reducing bills etc?
We have a townhouse, (2 floors of living space and a basement) in NYC and use only window a/c. Would a dehumidifier help? I know that reducing the humidity will help the air feel cooler, but will the cost of running the unit outweigh the benefits?
What is stupid is that if I dispute 200 - they will only take 800. Some credit card companies do not do this - but if you stop the direct debit (especially on a charge card) and just pay the actual account balance - then there is no charge.
If I decide to pay my bill in 3 parts for example during the grace period so the total is paid then that is not a problem: as long as the whole amount is paid. Well that is effectively what is happening here - but one part is paid by the refund. How can this be justified?
